The three design philosophies

Victron commonly separates inverter/charger, solar charge controllers and supervisory monitoring. This gives the designer granular control and multiple replacement paths, but it increases the number of engineering decisions. A poor Victron design is still possible; the blue boxes do not size cables or configure protection by themselves.

Deye and Sunsynk commonly package hybrid inversion, MPPT, battery control, generator functions and monitoring into an integrated unit. That can reduce component count and deliver an excellent result. It also means model selection is more consequential: PV voltage, battery current, AC pass-through and expansion limits are tied to that unit.

What changes for Band A, Band E and off-grid users

A Band A property may prioritise solar self-consumption, power quality and shorter battery windows. A Band E or off-grid property treats the inverter and battery as a daily energy plant, so generator charging, long-duration thermal conditions, serviceability and load control become more important.

None of the brands eliminates the need to separate essential and non-essential loads. Electric water heating, cooking and multiple conventional air conditioners can dominate a battery bank. Smart load control may produce a better system than simply adding another inverter.

  • Band A: investigate economics and short outages before oversizing storage.

Is Sunsynk the same as Deye?

They have closely related product platforms in parts of their ranges, but buyers should treat them as separate commercial products with their own firmware, documentation, support and warranty terms. Do not assume cross-brand interchangeability.

Should I use one large inverter or several smaller units?
